I'm interested in this. What does the sensor sense so to speak?
Also, I guess the speed is adjustable as well?

That looks just like the one in my van.

The sensor is a magnetic pickup and will work off bolt heads on a rotating shaft or a small magnet attached to anything rotating in the driveline.

There are usually instructions on calibration, which involves altering percentage s against a known speed (sat nav) or what is termed drive to set. If you can find a measured mile (or kilometer) then you just set it at the beginning and stop at the end and it reads the distance and calibrates itself from that.
