I have a flip front as you can see, i was thinking about cutting a 55mm round hole in the inner wing where the big bulge is to poke my air feed pipe through, will i be losing any/to much strength in the panel if I do this?

i was going to do exactly the same, would still like to know if it is a good idea

if the filter is exposed it will get dirty quickly
what about making a duct to the filter though so it isnt exposed

I've had a quick look and can see that ministef has gone through the inner wing in this location but the pictures dont really detail this.

Is it going to be more of an issue that mine is a flip front and ministef's isnt?

i think nic's filter sits where the wiper motor would be rather than going through the wing, unless there are some updated pictures?

my MOT man says no:

It'll come under this as a failure
"Any deliberate modification, excessive corrosion, damage, cracks or inadequate repair of a load bearing body or chassis member which seriously affects its strength within 30cm of the body mountings."
