Im getting my project engine in the new year but im trying to put together a spec list for my 998 turbo conversion. So for my spec list is as follows:

Block 60+ thou bore and hone
Centre main strap
new crank and con rods (Lightened and balanced)
11cc dished pistons
12g295 head
swift tune cam SW5 - 07
Vernier duplex timing set (may still go belt drive)
single 40 webber
Facet fuel pump
T2 turbo
Standard rockers

Now ive been informed that this will give me a compression ratio of between 7.5 - 1 and 8.1 - 1. Now is this going to be too low and if it is would i be better off with something like 7cc dished pistons?

Whats everyones thoughts on the different ignition systems out on the market?

mappable ignition is the way to go, i.e megajolt etc

11cc 998 pistons? Do these even exist? I've never had more than 6cc ones

Facet pump will be wank all use for turbo. You need a high pressure fuel injection pump. Also, it's impossible to determine if a CR is too low or not if you don't state what boost you plan to run.

I use Megajolt on my car. You can't go wrong with it really

I use flat topped pistons and an unskimmed 12G295 head to give 9:1 compression.

Running 12 psi boost with an intercooler without issue.

no you can't use a weber, but you can use delorttos equivelant if you buy the turbo seal and gasket kit for them.

You can use a Weber if you put it in a box and pressurise the box (like the tickford Capri). But if you just blow through it you'll end up with petrol everywhere.

If using a carb, the HIF44 with has been proved good enough for way over 200bhp, why bother spending time with anything else?

You have to seal the throttle spindle to stop the fuel coming out under pressure, putting it in a pressurised box exerts the same pressure inside and outside the carb so no fuel loss

Paul

I seriously doubt it!

Basically Delortto developed a carb for turbo use (ala Esprit Turbo). I presume that you can buy a kit of seals to make the carb suitable for a turbo application.

Otherwise, try and find an Esprit Turbo carb.

I would still argue that there is no benefit.

Yep you'll need one of those.

Probably best to start with a BDD

inlet plenum across the face of the inlet sealed to the 2 inlet trumpets and the float bowl breather ,made a cap for the jet chamber and boosted that too ,left the spindles and had no probs ,pics when i get back in january .

oh ! found a pic in this thread

http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=121873

you can just see the carb position ..this was a dellorto blow through , the weber was in the same position .
