so, finally the mini made it all the way to the rolling road, got setup, and made it back! I went to see Ray at T&M

my scanner has decided to packup so i cant show you the graph yet but here are the figures.

First job was to put the car on the rollers and get a base graph to start setting up, first run showed that we arrived at the garage with a very very lumpy 76bhp and a graph line that would put the pyrenees mountain line to shame!

In total we did 15 runs on the rollers with various tweaks on each one, without boring you with the various runs the final run came out at:

16psi peak, holding around 14psi
165bhp with 19bhp lost to transmission giving 146bhp at the wheels.
217ft lbs torque @ 3500rpm which is the turbo kicking in
176ft lbs torque @ 4900rpm where the graph starts to level out

I need to sort out the engine breathing which could give upto another 5bhp (no rocker cover breather at all)

Ray also says i can add another 5 degrees timing to play with across the board but he wants me to get another 1000miles on the clock before upping that.

Yeah I seen that, the spec I first had in my head was nothing like what I ended up with *wink* just wondering if it had changed any.

nope nothing has changed, 1380, one of the last morspeed blocks/heads i think, im sure there were plenty that were ordered after mine but never arrived...

T3 turbo, MD274 cam which as many predicted is giving great bottom end power.

Annoyingly when i built the engine kit i knew less than I do now and never measured the CR, so dare not run anymore boost.

The torque steer is a bit mad! Will be getting the wheel alignment double checked fairly soon and will be on the group buy list for a quaife next time round.

Do you not know anything about the pistons then? Or what cc is in the head?

Morspeed was vauge on the details of the head, I ordered their 'Booster Super Squish 4' Head, which they said was rated to 16+psi, they did not give me a cc of the chambers, equally the pistons are dished but again i didnt measure them. I know to measure them now but as john says that will have to wait until the next time the head is off.

Hmm. Those chambers on the head don't look massive.

Chambers in the head don't look very large, but I reckon the pistons have 18cc in them.

In the 13's at last!.. Just

better late than never, here are my dyno graphs

The first one is a bit busy, but you can see how low we started and where we eventually ended up with the smoother higher line.

These 4 runs were just tweaking pre-load settings on the boost controler nothing else.

well i had to go and have a play with the new camera!

first time i've ever filmed anything or put it on youtube, just used Windows Live Movie Maker, nothing special. I got a bit enthusiastic with the effects too.

the camera is really good, its only the 960 version (as opposed to the 1080) but its good enough for me.

hope to get a few more so i can film different angles at once and then cut them together.

Now I remember why I'm fitting a resirc dumpvalve. (In addition to the power benefit of course). It seems to run nicely though.

Love the air filter, like a wasps eye.

Where is the tow strap from?
