as they say pictures are worth a thousand words, i've had more help from TM in the form of pictures than anything else so i'm giving back what i can to help other people, if i've done things right or even wrong there are plenty of image for people to refer to.

nice thought about a hump hose, might look into that although i dont think you can get a reducing one.

air filter feed pipe is proving to be very tricky now, any ingenious ideas?

I think IC pipe routing could be simplified, with some work to the IC end tanks. Often it adds work, when things dont fall where ideally you might like. Could also shorten pipe routes a bit too.

As for air filter, what is the actual problem ?

Where do you want to mount it ?

IMO The ERA Mini turbo airbox is hard to beat for simpliciity, and keeps the engine compartment free.

No idea if anyone makes one, or if they are still available though. It places the filter enclosed in a box high up in the passenger wing.

spent a lot of time with a dremel, sander, and numerous other tools fettling the front end to fit around the intercooler. I've cut away a good 1 1/2" and it just about there, still a little more to do. it does look a little odd on the left side where the silicone pipe is but I plan to even this out with the grill so both sides will look the same.

then it was onto the air filter, I now have a 1m length of neoprene air feed hose connected to the turbo, what I do with it from here is TBC.

I could have it where it is with a filter on the end behind the front grill, but what about heat soak from the pipe running over the block?

I could drop the intercooler hose on the right and run the air feed over the top of it into the wing space. I could cut it short and poke it up through the bonnet. I could cut a hole in the wing/bonnet and have a filter poking out (not sure on the rules here)

Suggestions welcome.

and if you have a good eye you might have spotted something else i've just fitted hiding in the top right corner:

For a moment I thought you'd fitted a hair dryer:

Not sure about putting the air filter in the passenger inner wing space - all the hot air from the rad blows under there...

i was thinking more like this perhaps. although thinking about it the heat from the rad will still gather in that area i guess.

I know it's bit of a backwards step now you'e chopped loads out of the front end, but I'd be mounting that IC a lot higher so that its not obscured by the valance. This would probably require a ND alternator though.

You could also make the plumbing a bit neater by chopping the outlet on the clutch side end tank and relocating it so that it faces inwards.

the issue with raising it higher is the inlet on the rad side which does point inwards is currently under the rad so cannot go any higher.

unfortunatly chopping off bits of the cooler, or even welding on brackets on the other side so it could be mounted "upside down" are all beyond my skills/abilities.

i'm planning on cutting/drilling holes in the valance to get a bit more air to the cooler, there is only 30-40mm of the cooler currently covered by the valance.

it's going to take some work but it will all look pretty in the end...he says

I'm really not a fan of having stuff like intercoolers on show, but I think you've done a really good job of it!

I really like that.

That air filter is going to get logged up quicker than a McDonalds addicts arteries stuck in the wheel arch - unless you're using an arch liner of some sort?

It defeats the objective of putting it away from the engine to get cool air if its going to be covered in mud

thanks theoneeyedlizard, i always wanted the cooler on show but subtle, the numberplate is going in front of it on the two hinge bolts as low as i can get it and i think that will tie it all together really well.

the airfilter in the arch isnt mine! it was just an idea, i poached the picture from another thread. my filter is lerking behing the grille still.

a mate and his brother popped over today and spent ages polishing it with various compounds to remove endless years of crap and paint from other spray jobs in the garage.

Nice work, i like the style of it with the IC and grill nice and functional. And they did a great job on the paint. What sort of power are you aiming for?

i've always had the figure 180bhp in my head but i dont really know, i've bought all the best bits i can afford so i just want the best out of the combination, if its 200 i'm very happy, if its 170 im still going to be happy.

Went for an MOT today, and came out the other side with a red piece of paper.

All simple things that will be done tonight ready for a re-test in the morning.

She passed!!

10yrs off the road and she is finally back on it, well chuffed.

Got a blow on the exhaust which has been gun gum'ed so hopefully that will be sealed by the morning.

Digital speedo needs a tweak and the rollover vent valve on the fuel cell is leaking fuel out as soon as i start filling it.

So a few bits to sort in the morning before her maiden voyage to start running it in.
