i would have loved to have it retro cars, the avenger it was next to was my brothers, it won retro car of the show a few years ago then when in the mag, mine was'nt done then,

i took my escort to that show at croft on a trailer, because it was'nt complete. people kept pointing out wires that were hanging loose under the bonnet, i'd just point out that there was no pipes or radiator!!!!

Whereabouts in the country did that Avenger come from before you got it? I'm sure a car that was an orange colour with a similar number plate used to live at the pub up the road from where I went to school.

well i've played with the gear linkage, and now its inside!
i've made it with the second bar on.

also i've changed the steering column for an none airbig one to, had to weld all the brackets on to the old style column because the shaft is longer on the old style, i've made the column sat lower to.

ive not driven it yet but i can get all the gears, i can adjust the shift rod without taking everything off so it should be ok.

That's going to be loud with no back box!
Won't the sharp 90 degree bend be a little restrictive?

very nice, that looks so much better than your last side exit, wasnt a fan of the last one at all, but this one is sweet :)

again a matter of taste, seeing you cut up a nice shell like that made me cringe a bit..

also, have you looked into the legality of this? as someone metioned in another post, i think you might find having an exhaust pointing right at pedestrians is a no no

A mate of mine has a mk1 VW Caddy with a side exit exhaust on the passenger side and his goes through the MOT fine and he hasn't had any hassle over it.

i did think about cutting the shell, but i've taken great care about how much i was cutting, so i did'nt cut to much, also if i did'nt like it when done i can weld it all back up, i would'nt just stick a patch on, i'd make it mint again. hope it wont come to that though.

ive cut all the holes now, shaped the pipes, ready to weld this weekend.

ive made some mounts that will sit inside the rear pockets, i will then weld a nut to the exhaust pipe.

then i welded the pipes in, then i started on the system.
ive cut 6" out of the down pipe and 5" out of the back box, so it now sits where the gear linkage used to be.

just a little update on my exhaust. after starting it up with all the pipes on it did'nt sound right. so i'm using the centre section of a stainless exhaust off a honda civic, the box is very long but thin, after welding it all i started it, sounds very nice, bit louder than before *happy*

Will be interesting to see this when it's done. Won't be to my tastes but as long as the work well executed I'm sure it will be a good show car.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.
