Here is a very high speed look at my engine build from start to finish.

No words needed I dont think, and a nice mass of images should people need anything to refer to at a later date as I always find picture on here more helpfull than words (in a good way).

Strap yourselves in....

(clp patches of surface rust on the bottom of the head were clean up before fitting)

Nice picture trail.

Those look like the poor '3 dash' main strap bolts though?

I have to admit I knew nothing about these, and have now had a bit of a search on here. I didnt have any issued with them when fitting at all, they torqued up fine and I even gave them the ARP treatment of torquing up 3 times to take out any stretch etc.

I guess we'll see how it goes cos i'll be damned if I'm taking it all apart to change 2 bolts at this stage!

Looks good.

Did that fuel hose specify that it was intended for use inside the car? If not, the car will stink to high heaven of fuel inside - believe me, I know from experience!

heres the dash pretty much finished 8-)

Power cut-off switch
Switch Panel: Red = Fuel Pump, Green = Gauges, Push Button Start

Koso RX2n+ 10k Multifunction gauge
AEM Water Temp
AEM Oil Pressure

You've got the same instrument pod as me (RX2N) but looks like you've got the new version which is a good thing. The old one tends to have a fault with the tacho - it goes mental when it gets warm and then stops working altogether. I still need to get mine replaced but I keep forgetting to phone the guy at digital speedos!

the plus version is the only one they sell now.

i'm yet to have the engine running with the tacho connected, hope to do that next weekend. i was thinking about taking the rpm signal from the crank sensor that feeds the megajolt for it.

after going through 5 different coolers to find 1 that would fit and actually be any good I have plumped for a K-Tec Racing number, it was an upgrade for a clio. started on the plumbing today now all the bits have turned up.

driver side is all done, nothing to complex other than trimming down a bit of the servo bracket for a bit more room.

passenger side needs a bit more thought. first the 90 degree bend coming off the turbo is a bit loose so i've got the next size down in the post. current size loose, next size will be to tight but i can stretch it to fit, better than being loose!

rough route of the passenger side mapped out but not sure i have enough play on the reducer from the cooler to angle the pipe to the first 90 degree bend to go up the side of the rad.

the intercooler was an ebay win so i dont have all the details other than it being from K-Tec Racing.

yes I made all the dash myself, its just 6mm MDF and I made 8 L brackets, 4 on the top rail 4 on the bottom and bolt through the dash into the brackets with stainless allen head bolts. I left the plain dash (without cutting holes etc) bolted in the car for a week just to let the MDF warp to the curve of the rails before doing anything else with it.

This morning I mocked up the passenger side plumbing with some old bits of stainless exhaust I've got laying about.

Looks like I can just get away with the angle off the intercooler. I'll try it and if I get any leaks a longer reducer with a bit more play in it will defo work.

The piping is clear of the rad all the way round but I will make a heat shield just to channel the flow of air from rad away from the pipe rather than straight onto it.
