That looks nice. And with the number of sensors you're got on that beast, you should be able to know exactly what is going on everywhere.

Right, we attempted the first start yesterday and quickly realised that the cam sensor was 360 degrees out. Sorted that, but found that it was flooding. The huge secondary injectors were priming it would appear. Maybe something to do with the MAP sensor calibration being slightly out and bringing them in. Sturgeo sorted that this morning but still no run although it was firing.

Big problem seems to be the brand new high torque starter, it screems and struggles to spin it over at a high enough speed. We added a second battery as the Odyssey 30 was struggling. Now the starter sometimes doesn't engage with the flywheel and requires putting the car in gear and turning the engine with a shove to get it to engage.

After a bit of work reducing the cranking pulse widths and priming pulse, we finally got it running at around 4pm this afternoon. We ddn't start until 2pm as work got in the way again.

As soon as it ran we took it up to 2000rpm to bed in the cam. Lots of choking smoke from the exhaust lagging but otherwise sound. 70 psi oil pressure. We checked the timing and it was 10 degrees out, so shut it down and set it right, re-started and ran it at 2k for a good twenty minutes. Water temp stabilised at 92 Deg C.

This is a video after about 10 minutes running. No intercooler fitted whilst we sort the starter, but running fine. Slight seep of coolant from the head blanking plate is what you can see on the floor.

The fueling is otherwise as the 998 but with bigger injectors but seems spot on. Injection timing just needs a little tweeking which is good news.

I commented on this on facebook, is there no way that you could get an intercooler with the ports both at the same end?

I searched for ages for such an intercooler but could not find anything off the shelf. There are some cheap chinese ones that are too large or some for Landies that are not really big enough. Forge offered me one from a VW but for £350 and a long wait.

We do intend to change the intercooler at some point but it will more likely be side mounted.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys.

Sidemount IC's seems to be the trendy thing with mini's at the moment.
