it would indeed, and i totally agree, i just havent found a way to get the feed pipe through the inner wing, well whats left of it.

i mentioned in another thread about drilling a hole in the side by the wiper motor in that lump that sticks out but it was decided that i would loose too much strength. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=419302

Took the mini to Snetterton today.

The video is of the last 3 laps from a 20minute taster session on the Snetterton 300 (2.99mile) track. We only got in 5 laps during the session and the first 2 were behind a pace car.

3/4 of the way round the last lap we spotted the temperature gauge peaking over 110°C and some coolant leaking from under the bonnet so was forced to slow down and let traffic past before coming into the pits.

Can someone double check my compression ratio calcs, i've done this using some cut perspex and a baby's medicine syringe so there may be some slight error.

1380cc block (divide by 4 = 345cc)

Piston dish = 13cc
i measured 3 times between 12 and 13 so I believe these to be Morspeed Turbo Mega pistons which are actually MiniSpares Mega's dished out. I did get it all from Morspeed after all but his details were rather vauge.

Below deck = 1mm
i might try and get a more accurate reading but this is as close as I can measure at the moment

Gasket BK450 = 3.8cc
Why does everyone on the site say 3.8 but minispares say 4?

Head Chambers = 26cc
Again allowing for slight error, if anything I am measuring slightly under.

total 43.8cc giving 8.9:1

What do we think?

Re piston to deck height, it is about 1cc for every 10 thou so 1mm should be about 40 thou

I reckon add another 4cc on there. Someone correct me if I've got my maths wrong here.

It needs to be more accurate than that or you might as well not bother..

Use this

and make sure you are confident about the numbers

well thats not strictly true, prior to this i havent known at all and driving around quite happily so it made no odds, but now the head is off I would like to know out of interest. and now i have a rough measurement with the equipment I have, i certainly know its not 10:1 or 9:1, and I can say with some confidence that my measurements are if anything a little low by point of a cc.

Piston dish is right, gasket is right, so its only chambers and deck height i need to confirm a little more accuratly. I can get hold of a dial gauge for tomorrow to read the deck height a bit better.

I did only add 1cc for the 1mm deck height which might be wrong?

1mm deck hight is almost 4cc.

ok thanks, i'll come back tomorrow with a more accurate deck height and also try and do the head chambers a few more times to get something more accurate. all i see is the CR going down from here which can only be a good thing!

I ca confirm with some certainty that the pistons are 0.8mm off the deck and the head chambers are indeed 26cc.

I told you as long as the comp ratio isn't higher than 9:1 it'll be fine :-p

if you want to go into 20+psi's of boost then we need the cr down to around 8:1-8.5:1 so its not a ticking time bomb/hg muncher

F*%K *angry* F*%K *angry* F*%K *angry* F*%K *angry* F*%K! *angry*

Took the car out today to get it mapped ready for tomorrow rolling road day, 15mins from the house and the lower arm cross pin decided it didnt like being connected to the subframe anymore. Needless to say I'm not going to be able to make it tomorrow *angry*

When the pin gave way it moved the bottom arm out enough to give the driveshaft room to pop out of the gearbox too. Full on F1 stylie front right lockup with tyre smoke the works!

Seriously pissed off!
