Can it be used as anti-lagg, as when you lift off the throttle. it retard to 40 degrees itself as the exhaust valve was closing, sparking it, to make turbo spool faster.

Or do you need fancy engine FI management system to do that?

due to the temps involved in running an anti-lag system, its a pretty good way to knacker your turbo. If this is for a road car, i'd probably give it a miss...

My understanding with Launch Control is that the ECU will act as a rev limiter at a pre-set rpm.
For Anti-Lag you would need to retard the ignition also.
Feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
Megasquirt does have an Anti-Lag facility but when the ECU goes into Anti-Lag mode it fires an additional Nitrous system.
Nitrous produces far more exhaust gas than standard running does and so the turbo spools far quicker.
Running Nitrous in this way means that it may only be triggered for a couple of seconds (usually far less time) and so very little N2O gets used.
A nitrous bottle may last up to a month when used in this manner.
This form of Anti-Lag is far kinder to your Turbo and exhaust system.

you can choose to retard timing, cut spark, cut fuel, or cut both or any combination of the 3.

only trouble with useing the nitrous is it can bump you up a class if your racing.

I see where you are coming from Evo.
From what I understand of Megasquirt the Launch Control is armed from a dash mounted switch and activated from a clutch mounted switch.
This is opposed to a traditional Anti-Lag system where the system is activated once the throttle is released.
I certainly wouldn't want to have to dip the clutch mid-corner in order to activate Anti-Lag.
As I say that is my understanding of how the system works. If you have a suggestion of how it could be altered to work in a more traditional manner then I would be interested to hear. *happy*

Groan, bloody anti lag, why bother fucking about, either size the turbo the the engine correctly, or be prepared to either change down a gear or slip the clutch to spin the turbo up..........

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

i agree, its not really like a mini will ever have a turbo big enough to need anti-lag *smiley*
