Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Quick question for the sagem coil packs.

mine has a 4 way plug, with 4 connections when you look at the coil pack, 3 when you look at the plug.

now it was on the car running an mbe system but all the wires were white! and i had to take it off in a rush, not that that would of helped really!

So i thought it was signal/power/signal but i'm lead to believe its signal/signal/power

assuming 1234 with 4 not connected.

Sound right?

Apart from my fook up of not putting any power on the coil pack i hope that i'm getting there! *happy*

If its the same coil pack as on the Peugeot 306 then its.

1=signal for plugs 1&4
2=signal for plugs 2&3
3=power from ignition relay

*wink*

Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I'm not sure about the the universe.

hmm, not getting a spark on 1 and 4 *frown*

it runs perfectly on 2 and 3! *happy* suprisingly smooth! lol!

nearly there but not convinced on the coil pack wiring so some more investigation is needed i think!

Anybody got a sagem coil pack wired up?

my plug leads are 1 through 4 clockwise starting top right if looking from the end opposite the connecter.

does it fire 1&4 together as in the top two, then 2 & 3 together as in the bottom 2?

Last bits i need to sort. going to have a proper look tomorrow but thought i'd throw a few questions in.

seems fine though which is good. hopefully i'll get that bit sorted and then its too the RR thursday.

cheers mate! there is also the possibilty i connected it to the wrong pin on the plug! lol!

what sort of output does it give the coil to tell it to fire? just thinking that i'll check to see if the ecu is telling it to fire.

Ok,

pins 3&4 are ignition live. You need a good 12v here. 1&2 are the switched earth from the ECU for whichever coil.

there are numbers on the coil I believe (near the mounting holes) but all you need to know is that 1&4 share the same coil, as do 2&3. You can see the coil winding shape on the rear of the coil block - hence as you're looking at it with the socket bottom-most, the bottom two HT connections are paired together, as are the top two.

You should be able to figure the rest out!

Had this on my brothers Omega, the garage changed the engine, it would only spark on 2+3. They spent a week fucking around with it. It went to one of the northwests engine management spetialists Camco in Warrington, they fucked around with it for a week. They couldnt fix it. I spent a saturday morning on a cold winters day and found they had the plug on the coil upside down. Shit I dont get paid for this bollox either.

So, what i found. Pins three and four on the coil are common, pins one and two are the trigger. get it upside down and it will fire 2 and 3 all the time, every ignition period.

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

cheers, i'll have a play in a bit! although if the plug was upside down i thought you wouldnt get any spark at all as it would have no power?

Pins 1 and 2 are the channels for firing 1and4 and 2and3.

Pins 3 and 4 are common, in the OE application there is a 12V feed to one pin, and a capacitor tied to ground on the other, to stabilise the input voltage.

Cheers Tom, i just checked the wiring diagram for the mpi and that only uses 3 of the pins so i'm guessing the earth is not really needed.

You can get away without a cap to earth from the supply feed, as I have done for the last 10 months.

It is a good idea if you can though, and i'm looking to sort it out soon to see what difference it makes.

Cool cheers, if you get a sec can you look to see what pins correspond to the edis :)

Actually thinking about it is it the 12v feed that isn't needed as the mpi's had the earth but no feed, think i've confused myself now...
