megajolt troubles, urgent

Hi, I know this really is not the correct forum for this, but as the picasso forum is so slow, i will try...

here goes:
Im going on the rollers tomorrow morning, and suddenly my megajolt dont want to communicate with my computer anymore....

I have a shitty troublesome usb/serial adapter on this computer. so have aquired another computer with a real serial adapter. will try this later when I get home from work. but this have java 1.5xxx. will the javacom downloaded from the megajolt site work as good with this(meant for 1.4xxx?) with the files in the same folders?

I need a modemcable and not a NULLmodem cable right?

I really do not understand why it suddenly do not want to communicate, but will troubleshoot until the solution is found. Any ideas?

the adapter pointed as com1 (the one used in the tuner software for me now), and also power was on.

any version of java newer than 1,4 is fine,


you need a mouse extension cable :)

NOT a serial cable.

okay, so its the same javacomm package for 1,4 and 1,5?

have you tried using the latest software? it can be found by looking on the forum done by 4600cc, its much better

hmm otherwise try changing the ports, mine messed up on me the one day but after flicking through the different ports and changing it in device manager its been fine

I use that one by 4600 aswell. Its much nicer. No messing with java. just download and install and it works fine.

I use the serial cable. I tried a modem cable but it wouldn't work. Apparently in has to be pin 1 to pin 1 all the way to pin 9. Null modems have some pins reversed I think.

a mouse extension cable is just that .... pin 1 - pin 1 though pin 9 - pin 9.

IE perfect.
