Hello all - been a member a while now and know a few faces on here but never posted - thought you'd be interested to have a ganders at my K headed twinki - was very pleased to see madmatt's going in spectacular fashion on the garage floor - spurred me on to finish it off. If the link doesn't work pls excuse me as pc skills aren't my strong point. The vid clip is of the first 30 mins running yesterday, running cams in etc, base map isn't too bad but its on the rollers at the end of this month - following what madmatt was saying the sound/feel of the engine is very strange and also very smooth - the engine is solid mounted but doesn't rattle and roll like the 5 port did - strange!

brief spec:-
1380cc - Omegas 4 bolt main, innocenti rods, med crank, paddle clutch, s/c box/drops, fully ported K head (very interesting flow figures-you turbo boys will like it!)custom cams, my design exhaust manifold, EFI management, traction control/launch control - circa 510kg

John Kimmins... Why does your name sound familiar? *oh well*

That aside - well done on the install.

Will it be at Avon Park in July?

Hi Turbodave - a regular at Avon park in class C , we've probably not tripped over each other formally!!

Turbo Tim - Simon prepped the block and modded the oil way in the K head - the conversion plates/ adapters were based on his early designs and made through my company - the rest is my blood sweat but no tears!

cheers

John, Well done on getting it running. I seem to remember that mini in one of the mags and that you live in the norfolk area?? If so, i would be very grateful for a look as mine is nearing completion.

JohnK, Well done mate, sounds and looks great, does the bonnet clear the head without any mods?

I'm interested to know more about your cams, who did you get to grind them for you???

Jimster - the f/glass bonnet I have "just" touches in one point literally - which is a bit of a pain as it would be nice to keep std profile - ah well can't have it all and it certainly doesn't spill out like a kad. For a turbo application you wouldn't go far wrong with the std k1100 - not RS cams - I have the lobe measurements from the std cam if you'd like them, and you can alter the overlap easily enough with a pair of verniers - they aren't any good for a high performance n/a engine though the RS cams with 284° are getting there.

- hows yours coming along?

Mine is making good progress, not running yet, but should be there for avon.

Do you know much Data on the RT, RS & LT cams, and the differences?

Which point of the head touches?? Front right corner?

Any data you have will be handy

yes front right corner of the cam cover touches - I may "hide" the clearance under a "cooling" vent or something!

I have a very accurate cam profile (same inlet + exh)of the LT cam of a cam measuring machine - the RS I only know the timing and lift not the shapes of the opening/closing ramps - these are the only two cam profiels I know of for the UK K's, I'll get the info together and send it on.

Kad setup fits under a standard bonnet if you use the standard inlet manifold. I have a special long one for more mid range torque *wink*

Dan - you're right - I think the weber injected ones sit under the front as well? - the cam cover will always be taller than the K though!

Fastest A Series Mini in the World

leeds/wakefield.

the KAD head i have dan will prob have the bike carbs sticking up and out the front of the bonnet due to the incline so they sit something like level.
that is whenever i get around to rebuilding it ,lol.

well done on the bmw head there thought John,

Cheers Carl - don't think clearance would be a problem in the rear of your car - lots of space!!

Its the actual vernier pulley that is the tallest part on the kad setup rather than the cam cover.

Carl - would be good to see 2 in action in one car *happy*

thanks Benross - as the spec looks its built pretty much full on, theres enough airflow through the head at the lift of my cams for 180 ish bananas- so we'll see what the curves look like, fingers crossed.

cheers
