well mines nearly a runner (again) just naturally aspirated this time for now tho, had some shitty extractors made yesterday & have another computer now, so we`ll see if it stuffs up (again)

Mine should have been finished by next Wednesday for my college project!!! Its not going to be done for then but it will appear to be done and will be close to running. The cam drives will all be done, the exhausts are currently being fabricated but i have taken the engine out of my mock up front end for paint so the manifold is on hold for a day. Got all my oil feeds and drains done it only requires a piece of -4 goodrich hose to be made up. the real work left is checking whether there is any metal on metal contact with the pistons.

Its getting there and should be finished by around August, then once it gets cold again and the mini goes away for the winter, she'll get a decent crank, rods and custom pistons!!

Mines on hold while I sort the body out. Also got the 1400 to build up if Jimster sorts himself out and posts the push rods if he hasn't already

forgot to mention mine is gonna be n/a

i've just got my NA rotating assembly back from the balancer with a nice 140 quid bill. Other than that im waiting for a cylinder head and my rods then its job done.

i`ve decided to leave all the turbo stuff off this time, had some dramas with the drive pulleys/belt last time we tried to start her up (clearance issues) & the new computer didn`t want to play the game that well either, so i`ve borrowed another computer & we`ve now set up some n/a extractors, a std issue electronic dizzy & have shoved the bimmer quad throttle bodies onto it for now

looking to turn the key sometime next week (hopefully) i`m stickin the whole assy into one of my old shabby Mk1 "S"s as it`s allready a complete running car, just going to pluck & plonk the donk & stick the swirl pot with return line & h/pressure pump in the boot
the Monaco fastback body is still way off, simply too much to do to bother with it at the moment.

Ok,,,to add to the other thread, (yeah well,,,,i can brag now hey??? !!!!)

Yes, my Bimmer twinky conversion actually runs, we worked all night tonight, wired her all up, got oil press in about 10 secs, had comp on all 4, whacked a bit of fuel at it, stuffed with computer crap for ages, lost spark, got spark, lost injector pulse, got injector pulse, lost spark again, then too much fuel then not enough fuel then retarded ign (stupid bl;oody computers )

so , we now officially have a large bore 1360cc A series, Bimmer twin cam 16v, injected, engine running

Ok,,,,so it`s not running at it`s best just yet, heck so far it "runs", but i have computer guru commin over tuesday & he`s going to mod the thing & make it sweeter

ok,,,i just came back from a few runs down the road in her & YEEEAAAHHHH!!!!

we`ve only got her tuned to about 5000rpms at the moment, been here 2 whole days trying to learn all this computer crap but we`re slowly getting a handle on it all,,,had wires wrong on the TPS, had 2 sticky injectors, a stuffed fuel reg, base setting in the computer were way out, etc etc etc & now we`re on the money & having some fun.

dam sensitive things these computers tho,,,a tiny change actually changes so dam much, altho it only is a cheap arsed batch fire thing at the moment, the Autronic system isn`t here yet , but now i know what all the KAD & JKD boys are on about,,,smooth as silk, purrs like a kitten & grunt to burn, weired thing is that it`s just like a motorbike (funny that ) i`m feeling like this thing allready has more grunt than the old 1510cc 5 porter had & we`re still no where near having the fueling right yet.

can`t wait to fit the Autronic engine management system ,turbo & intercooler now

i will Jimster, just am "playing" with it all myself first , basically to learn more about all this computer controled sh!te, we have a fully sequential Autronic management system comming for the turbo & will also play with that myself first before hitting the dyno. Dynos can suck up a lot of money & i`d rather spend some time myself, both learning & improving the package before i hand over big wads of the folding. hopfully that way i won`t have to fork out anywhere near as much. (hopfully)

Today we had a big "play" , massive gains in grunt & cleaness & then just fried the clutch. Brand new Orange diaph & AP plate & it just broke loose & spun it up... also sorted out the ign timing was only getting about 20deg total, so "PLENTY" more comming yet & still only N/A & still only tuned up to 5000rpms. man-o-man !!!serious stuff compared to what i`ve been used to & drives & sounds like a motorbike
