Don't know if ive posted this in the right place but if anyone wants a 'how to' on properly rebuilding an A/A+ series engine then Bill Sollis's new DVD he just brought out is ideal!!

Its part of the ultimate mini range of DVD's and can be bought at www.minifilms.co.uk for £24.99 which sounds expensive but it is 4 hours long and a private production i think.

The dvd entails stripping the engine and rebuilding it to which i picked up alot of engine building tips even though ive built a few motors up before such as perfect cam timing. He builds up a fast road 1380 but apart from strapping on the turbo cant see it being much different to building a turbo engine.

The DVD also shows step by step how to rebuilt your gearbox which i found really interesting and now think ill try rebuild my own rather then pay out to get it done.

Amazing DVD and well worth it considering its a similar price of a haynes manual.

Got this last week, cracking dvd, bit unhappy about the price. Well worth it for people like me who have done a strip down of other engines (pinto) but at a basic level.

Ive learnt more off the dvd that 2months of looking on the net.

In the garage......again!!

I wonder how tough it was for them to take that flywheel off, they seemed to struggle a bit, hence the cutaway to bill gently lifting it off the crank. But if you look closely. a nice chunk taken out of the casing probably with a sledghammer.hehehe.

i have this dvd, i thought it was very good for a novice to engine stripping/building,

had a good chuckle at the flywheel section, i bet "sollis's" puller cost a hefty price & he proboly still had to resort to removal by the force of a "caveman technique" lol

i just soaked mine overnight in wd-40, used my puller on it & came off a treat, no big bang! eased off like butter! woo hoo

well worth the price & thery'll always be novices you can punt it onto when you/i are more proficiant at putting mini motors together

top marks from me

the Search-section on this forum is blummin superb & simple to use, unlike some other forums, without the search-section & the help of this bunch of chaps on here i'll never be able to !!!Start the day with a 998cc turbo!!! :) i'm getting closer though!

I would be surprised if you get a dollar price from a UK seller. You will probably have to pay the sterling price.

The DVD is in NTSC format, and there is no mention of region encoding on the case or the disc, so it should work in the US.

Gav just make a copy the first time you play it, then you'll have a spare...it wouldn't hurt to make an extra just to be on the safe side...*wink* *wink* *cough*
