Hello People,

I'm thinking of using an SPi throttle body for my project, at least the Burlen metal upgrade one. I know the MPi has a diameter of 48mm... but no idea of the SPi one. The only difference I know is that the MPi is horrendously more expensive.

Any info would be appreciated!

Mark

I donated, but somehow didn't get the label! :(

The only thing you can do with the SPI throttle is take a HIF44 plain throttle disc, have the throttle body machined to the right diameter for it to fit and assemble it. Word of warning, if you do not have a service tool to set it up it will be very difficult to get it to run right. Not that its that much fun when you have the service tool

To be very honest, just leave the spi throttle as it is.

I have the t shirt

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Managed to get the modified 44mm throttle body working with thanks to sump nut.

Didnt make a 'Noticeble' fannies worth of difference, but then the engine is not at full potential yet

Ah great!

Just that I didn't make myself clear in the first place... I'm doing a turbo with efi on a 7-port, with a single throttle body on a custom plenum.

Just for the pride of saying "all Mini parts were used", I was considering an injection throttle body.

Now what good is the spi throttle body, compared to that of, say a Glanza or a Mazda 626?

I had my SPI thottle body bored to 47mm with a new butterfly. I didn't dyno it after this mod so I don't know if i accoplished anything.
But I have been thinking that the huge fuel pressure regualtor and injection body, positioned right over the venturi, may mean that our thrrotle body is way smaller than 44mm. No?? I wonder who would know?

Not being funny mate, but the outside diameter of the throttle body is 47.5mm in diameter!!

Lets not forget.....with boost, you dont need a huge throttle body.

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will
