what would be the prefered cylinder head for a turbo 998?as far as im away to drop the CR the 295 head would be best but could a 1275cc head be used with a pocketed block?

also is the metro turbo head the same as the standard metro head?

forgive if im wrong (odds on i am LOL), but from what ive read/picked up so far.....

std A+ 998.....bit pants, on 10.1:1 cr model, you would have to use dished pistons to get the cr down, as has 24cc (24.3cc??) chambers as std.

12g202....Better ports than std 998 head, has 28cc (???) chambers as std.

12g295....to quote pete "the rolls royce of small bore heads", has 28cc chambers as std.

12g940....potentially the best setup if done right, but the most expensive.

as for all the other small bore heads...aeg's etc, i havent got a clue, i think as far as turbo'ing 998's the jury is still out on whats best at what (cam/head ect).

I am 100% certain that the 295 heads are a larger volume than the 202 heads.

Remember the 295's were originally used on engines with raised crown pistons.

WRONG!
The 206 is the same as the 295.

As stated earlier, 295 heads are 28.somethingcc and 202s are 26.something cc.

According to the yellow bible the 12G295 and 12G206 both sport 1 7/32" Inlet v/vs and 1" exhaust v/vs. These are both the 998 cooper heads used originally with raised crown pistons, hence the chamber volume. I have never personally seen a 12G206 and don't know anyone that has, they are mega rare.

It also quotes 295/206 chamber volume at 28.3cc, and 202 volume at 26.1cc. The 12G202 head is a 1098 mini cylinder head, with 1 5/32" inlet valves, and 1" exhaust valves.

There is no difference, apart from that the 12G206 is rare as rocking horse shit, I have never seen one, or heard of anyone that has.

Just another note, I think it would be better to type that chart up and insert it as text, scanning it and posting it seems just a tad too much of a copyright breach to me?

Oh Yes!
Tom, you're WRONG as well. The locating rings are definately a valid difference!

cheers

What he pointed out for me was that the floor in the 202 head is "higher" compared to valve seats. This means bigger radius and MUCH improved flow over the valve throat.

But out of the box it isn't better, but if you got the time....

My friend's job is to port heads, so he's not into this bigger is better at all.
