can i do it?
i have got a turbo sitting at home, and a hif44 carb, can i just strap on a blower, fit the turbo oil feed, fuel pump and regulator, and a steel head gasket to the 1275 and expect it to work, or is there a lot more to it than that. i know i will have to cut the bulkhead out.
please help me. i need turbo power!!!!!

you need to do your home work...
you will get all the info you need...

you need...

a decent bottom end & gearbox for starters
correct turbo fuel pump
correct rising rate fuel regulater
correct carb
modified fuel tank(DIY)
bulk head modifications
an aditional return fuel line to fuel tank
oil feed line.
various air and coolant pipes
exhaust down pipe
possibly to lower compression
cone or similar air filter.....i could go on, but that is the basics.

Have fun.

With 8 PSI a standard turbo type gasket will sufice, provided the head and block surfaces are flat and clean it will hold together. In my experienced opion a 8.5:1compression ratio is a good CR giving you the scope for a little more boost if needed. A turbo Must be set up correctly..run it lean and it WILL detonate and cause damage to pistons/head gasket etc.

i've run 14psi on a standard head gasket for short spells with no problems.

Top advice...don't listen to everyone's advice! stick to the experienced.

Sold the turbo and seeing what the C20XE can do!

Near Lincoln

For a head gasket that most people i know use, (turbodave, jimster, etc) and thats the payen bk450. It really does the job and holds up to high boost. I think im correct in saying neither jim nor dave has had any failures. *happy*

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.
