hey everyone, ive recently bought a mini with a metro turbo engine in it. im trying to get it running right as it will start eventually but wont rev? i have checked the pressure regulator and im getting 3.5bar out of it, but it still wont rev. ive fitted a new fuel filter but it is only filling around a quarter full and wont go anymore...is this normal or should it be filling? im a total newbie when it comes to these turbo engines, i have plenty of experience with 998's but this is baffling me!

also what compression should i be getting when doing a compression test as i cant find a definitive answer!

thanks in advance *happy*

3.5 bar would be rather worrying on a carburettor engine and would undoubtedly see fuel flying out of every orifice possible.

I hope you meant 3.5psi.

Whether turbo or n/a, makes zero difference to idle and basic running.

So at idle, what are mixtures like ? does it start normally ? idle normally ? Was it bought with known problems or was it supposed to run ok ?

Sorry, yes I mean psi 🤦🏻‍♂️ when I bought it the previous owner said it was hard to start. After having half an hour checking firing order, plugs etc I've managed to get it starting fairly easily.

It seems to me that it's getting starved of fuel when you rev it?

Does the throttle pot move ok? What fluid is in it?

So again, what are mixtures like at idle and during these events ? No need to guess. Get real data.
