i know this is an old subject but are 18cc forged omegas worth the extra money, and will cc be too low will need to buy a set to see if too low in bore. or better going for cast 10cc that apparently sit higher

I think it depends on what power you want to run. If you are aiming for the moon you need forged pistons and a CR around 8.5. If you haven't yet worked on the cylinder head you may be able to compensate for the larger piston bowl size.

head already done, running gt17 with intercooler and aiming around 140. as said can work out but that would mean buying pistons first to work it out. was planning originally omega forged but now worried re. 16cc dish

My sister is so fit I won't show anyone her picture

The cast Omegas will be more than adequate for 140hp.
On an unskimmed block they sit around 40thou down the bore.
Whether a 10cc dish is adequate depends on your desired compression ratio and what cc you have in your cylinder head.

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

The Omega casts can have the dish opened out slightly, SC took mine to 16cc for my K build.
Obviously you'd have to work out cost vs cost of both options.

Forged are more forgiving but unless you are chasing the moon I'd just go with tried an tested Cast Omega's

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing half of.

cast omegas get the thumbs up from me
i put over 30psi on mine
but the last 3 engines i built i used forged omegas FIS for the sake of a 100 or so quid extra, it seems " forged" sounds better in the pub too

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*
