Are you using the correct gasket between the plenum and carb? IE no holes blocked/covered by the gasket.

Shane during the rebuild there was no need to remove the plenam from the carb so yes m8 all good. im going on holiday next friday to the grand tour (devon). so will try to get some pics of the engine after that. its got me stumped as ran fine before removal. |

Timing double checked, both cam and ignition?

If it runs when you restrict the air going in, it sounds like the mixture is set up too weak. |

Timing double checked, both cam and ignition? When you say "loads of fuel pressure" have you checked with a gauge between the regulator and the carb? Should be 4.5 PSI. Shane yes m8 it has an inline gauge that shows the preasure and its fine |
