Hello everyone. Ive not posted on here for some years.

SO back in 2010 i had a complete 998 A+ engine sent to minisport. I asked them to do / fit the following:

Rebore and fit +20 dished pistons (circlip type).
SW5 Cam, duplex chain with adjustable pulley.
pocket the block to accept a 940 head.
Hardened / Nitrocarburise crank.
ARP rod bolts.
Hardened diff pin.
Balance assembly.

Now this all happened 10 years ago and since then a lot has happened. I remember collecting the engine, the gearbox was attached to the engine but the transfer gear housing wasn't on which i thought was strange and all other parts were given back to me in a box. They had the whole thing for a very long time and i just wanted it back.
Its my own fault for not checking at the time. The engine has been sat under my stairs ever since. Now were all in lockdown it seemed the ideal time to resurrect the project, even if the car it was meant to be going in has now been scrapped.

I dug out the old receipt to see what i got charged for and i also decided to split the engine and box because something didn't feel right.

It looks as though they have reconditioned the gearbox, bearings look new but its not down as being done.
however the diff is a 2.9 unit (which i never asked for) with a standard pin. It also looks like an A series unit rather than an A+.
The diff locks up really badly. At first i just thought it was corrosion on the planet gears but now it just looks badly built and i don't trust it. The diff casing looks like its from another gearbox entirely.

The engine itself looks Ok. I am a little concerned that two of the push rods look off center on the little end compared to the others. It does however turn over freely.

So now i'm at the point of needing a new diff for a start.
But my main problem right now is trying to source a 998 Primary gear bush.
Iv'e come to realize that the top hat bush is the same on 1275 and 998's but the other end is obviously different. I don't fancy double bushing.
I see that spares and swiftune offer a fully floating bush but id have to get groove machined for a circlip?
Do i have to bite the bullet and buy a new primary gear or is there another option?

Cheers all.

Matt.

Ive done some searching and it seems some bushes were made up for a 998 primary gear a while back. Does anyone still have any of these or any input on what my best options are?

Lowestoft, Suffolk.

If you have a decent machinist locally, they should be able to make fit and bore/ream parallel for you from prosperous bronze.

Not sure what you mean...but all normal Mini rods are offset ?

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

Carnforth, Lancs

Look up ACDodd on Facebook - he'll fit and bore bushes to your primary gear
