I've just taken delivery of one of these, and it looks pretty good. The gear ratios are very similar to the Clubman gear set with only second gear ratio being a little different. Should be interesting, might be able to hear myself think :Hehe:

Pictures show comparison with a standard ratio A+ gear set

It will be interesting to see how it holds up to the rigours of the K motor.

Wow. I didn't have a lot of faith when I first heard of these, but WOW!
The pic on the minispares website don't do these justice!
Looks like they've been helical broached (many cool vids of this fantasic proccess on youtube that modern CNC has made so much easier) but looks like they've left a few slithers for you to de-burr on the edges of the 2nd gear? Definitely want to get rid of those!

I doff my flat northern cap to MS for creating this. I'd really like to see (next) a slightly wider ratio (2.9:1) so I can run a 2.95 CWP but launch like I've got a 3.2 CWP. I bet they'd sell a ton of those; it'd be of interest to both us numpties with bags of torque, and also to folks with nat-asp motors that are looking for a reliable, nice driving gear ratio...

In addition, a deep groove ball bearing or cylindrical roller helical idler would be fan bloody tastic.

Guesswork recently pointed this gearset out to me. Quiet gearbox, which should be as strong, if not stronger, than a straight cut kit. As above, the price is astronomical though. (£706.56). Might wait for the christmas/new year sales. :/

Went on a road trip at the weekend and the gearbox went great, such a pleasant drive.

Durability wise, we’ll have to wait and see but it should be hugely better than the standard gear set if not equal to the clubman straight cut gear set. I’ve already seen 21psi boost in the data logs but 15psi mostly.

Its an impressive bit of kit, I'm just wondering what will be going on with the case in terms of side loadings in a big torque turbo motor. unfortunatly not somthing i know much about.

Yeh! I was surprised too, but it’s more of overshoot than of intended 😲

Anyone thought about doing a group buy? Even a 10% discount would be great. *Idea*

Considering a set of these myself.
Have you put many miles on them yet Colin?
Does anyone else run these, are they proving reliable on big power/torque engines?
Honest feedback welcome.

I get enough screaming in my ears on a daily basis with tinnitus.
Id like to make the car a little more user friendly, plus if I did go the route of using this gear set it would free up a SC box for the MK2? *Idea*

How much torque are you producing Steve?
How is your boost controlled/delivered? Is it a progressive delivery set to intentionally to maintain traction and preserve the box or one large dollop?

170lbft at the moment. I have an AEM boost controller which holds the gate until 10psi then progressively controls it. I don't lose traction in the dry. I also have a KAD mainshaft pinion support in the box.

Mines controlled via the ECU so can make it progressive.
This is looking like a possible purchase.

They're built to be thrashed. According to MS there has not been a single case of them breaking. Cole from classic mini DIY has them in his SC build too.

Id be interested to see how many they've sold and what percentage of that are big HP/Torque turbo engines.
But this is certainly positive feed back so far.
Does anyone know how Sprockets have fared thus far?

I think RichSpec possibly has a set, or is going to put a set in his supercharged 8 port.
