Evening all,

After a bit of advice, I'm potential buying a mk1 golf. Its had some pretty major work done, 1.8 20 valve turbo, bigger brakes etc, but at some point it got painted R32 Golf blue, which on a mk1 is just not the done thing (needs to be mars red, silver, green or a nice brown). Now my last paint job was from a friend and on a mini with no roof, stripped down and in primer and I paid about £1000. What should I expect to pay for a Paint job for a mk1 golf? I am based in the surrey area. Would appreciate some painters opinions, Is there a way of cutting costs? e.g. getting the DA out myself?

Also are you talking a blow over or full strip down and paint the lot?

Personally a mk1 golf, it would be full strip down and get the underneath looking as good as the top.

Be better off going to a few local painters and asking and speaking in person for costs. See they work they’ve done previously etc.

£7000 they didn't like you! I do agree jonny, but would like to see a return at some point.

its all time. I'd expect a good job isn't going to have change out of £3k if there are no repairs to do (just a colour change)
