Remember if you import, there's roughly 30% on top of the price of the vehicle from America. So the prices on American Ebay n such look good, but by time you get them here, it's still costly and in some cases may be worth going with something that's already over here. You also wont be able to go inspect the car first.

Additionally when it's imported you will need to go through the IVA process to get it registered. There's some imported who will do this for you, at cost, obviously. Some forums will have an International section, which you could use to ask opinions?

I've recently bought a 2014 Challenger, which was imported early this year by the previous owner. He had the following done before I got it/ it was registered.
Rear fog lamp
Converting the tail indicators to amber (from red, this isnt necessary, but a lot of drivers here dont know what these are)
Switching headlamps to the correct side of road
HID Headlamp washers
Also, when he took it to IVA he was told the after market exhaust was too loud, and had to put the standard one back on.

The Tax for mine is listed as PLG, which means it's the £245 a year jobby rather than the big boy £500+ one I was cringing thinking about before I picked it up.

Finally, Dodge don't exist in the UK, so consider where you are going to get parts from, or when you have more specialist problems
American cars are fucking HUGE and you realise how small most spaces are. They attract a lot of attention, you need specialist insurers too

Something to consider. In America, Dodge has Earned a reputation for terrible build quality and reliability. I have first hand experience working as a mechanic here in the states. Anything that has a mopar label is typically a throwaway car. My neighbor's kid just totaled a Hellcat, because Led Sleds don't like turns.

If you want the true American driving experience, get a lifted v8 crewcab pickup

Not very sunny swanage

at the risk of a little hijack and sending the thread o-t, does anyone have any knowledge of importing large chunks of a vehicle as opposed to a complete car?

Where im going with this (and its still very much a pipe dream for the future, i currently have at least 5 yrs of projects on the go) is ive seen a few people sticking cool looking pick up truck bodies (think 40/50 f100, 3100 etc) onto modern chassis... to my way of thinking, whilst being a little odd, its a great idea, and would potentially give you a non-biva'able vehicle which could legitimately tow a car trailer (afaik no 50 yank pick ups are type approved for towing in the uk) and could utilise one of the many trucks that seem to be sold in the states without entirely the correct paperwork (and thus are un-ex/importable complete) but could possibly be stripped from the chassis and be sent over as a cab and a bed as 'spare parts' or soemthing?? Does this sound like something that might fly, or have i completely overlooked something?

Apologies for the o-t hijack!!

And on the 7th day........... God created turbochargers!

I had thought Jeep might be able to get parts. Apparently a reasonable about of the under body parts are Merc' so if I was to find any part numbers, those I might be able to get at a slightly more reasonable price.

Build quality from what I've seen so far isnt too bad. Not perfect, but I have no squeaks, rattles, wind noise or water leaks. Any extrior trim issues are where previous owner has done something (Bumper to grille lower insert has some odd tapered flush going on) which I might solve by getting a carbon insert, and the rear lamp surrounds

But anyways. A long 400 mile round trip I did last weekend I even managed to get 30 mpg (corrected to UK gallons) So it's not even that bad really for a 5.7
