Hello,

iam from germany an i have a problem with the sc head.
Two times the same shit thing.
I use a EWP80 Waterpump an a big alloy sidecooler.
No temp. problems.
Buuuut every time the cylinder gasket burns into the head between 2. and 3. with GEG300 or C-AHT189 Cometic.
It is overheating in this area.
I have now 14tkm on the tacho.
Perfect fuel an ignition settings.
All Sparkplugs are bown.
Its a slowly destroying process...
Other 7 port driver here?

Blowing between 2. and 3.

Have you spoken to SC? Have you checked to see if it is true in that area?

may have backed off or removed the rockers about the only way you can check for breaches between cylinders with a leak down tester.

I don't think it's a head issue (well not specific to the 7-port).

I actually dry decked mine and added a hose between the core plug and the head above the clutch.

I always use an AF460 head gasket, turbo charged running 20psi, never had gasket issues.

It does look very oily and the exhaust valves look very lean.

Do you have a photo of the failed gasket?

The valve stem seals were leaky.
Is this a possible issue for the gasket?
Lambdasensor LSU 4.9 sits in the Y and goes after about 500Km broken.
To hot, to lean?
Because dyno, the engine is not to lean.

What is the surface finish, for the cosmetic really you need a ground finish rather than milled.

Looking at the valves it looks lean.

Lots of failed 4.9's recently on various after market non OE stuff not just minis. Usually because the sensor heater has to work harder as it's further away from the heat. Can also be caused by starting the sensor for long periods without the engine running.

Is it A-Series only? I think it should be...
So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

What octane fuel are you using. Does the 92 still exist in parts of Germany?

Also, what heat range plug?

timig chart looks good, but is the timing confirmed with a strobe? as the trigger wheels have been known to slip,

I'm thinking extra heat build up from retarded timing
