After many years i finally have a turbo mini (one i get it started). Its a 1972 Morris mini 1000, i got it as a long term investment and promised the wife i wouldn't modify it. Its been off the road now for 18 months, target is to get it on the road for London to Brighton this year. MOT is booked in for the 13th May so all hand to the deck at the moment. Im not after quick quarter mile times just want to make the car more fun and driveable.

I have now shortened the HT leads and im still getting a weak spark, barely visible when cranking. Ive checked the voltage at the coil pack connector which is 12.6V at static and drops to 10.2V when cranking.

Ive now put new HT leads and plugs on. I manage to get it idling, but the revs were hunting up and down and as soon as i gave it any throttle it died. Now it fires for a few seconds and then dies. Any ideas? 1972 998 TURBO SLEEPER |

Hunting is usually an air leak. I'm surpriseed that the ECU even worked at 10 V, so deffo a contributing factor.

As an aside - maybe it's the picture, but it looks like your dump valve signal is connected to the plenum nipple? On 17th Nov, 2014 Tom Fenton said:

Check the crank sensor air gap is correct. Get it as close to the teeth as you can without any rubbing..... On 26th Oct, 2004 TurboDave16v said:
Is it A-Series only? I think it should be... So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'... On 26th Oct, 2004 Tom Fenton said:

Cheers Nic just tried BPr6Es plugs and couldn't even get it started. On the bp6es plugs I can get it idling but the second I give it any throttle it's dying 1972 998 TURBO SLEEPER |
