Hi

I'm looking at getting some polycarbonate or similar to replace the glass in my mini to lose some weight.
I don't like the small sliding windows you see in polycarbonate door windows.
Just wondered if there's any difference in size of mk1 door glass? As ive seen some mk1 style polycarbonate windows advertised.
I know the rear screen is smaller on the mk1.

Hope this makes sense!!

Regards,
Josh

Hi Josh,

Actual MK1 door glass is about 20mm shorter in height than MK3

The polycarb kits made to convert MK3 doors to the appearance of MK1 sliding windows are made specifically for the conversion and are the correct height for the MK3 doors once you have created the lower channel for the lower runner to sit on.

Cheers

Cheers guys I'll email them.

Also I've searched but can't find it, how much weight difference is there between glass and polycarbonate equivalents?

They will. They just state this because they're not a straight swap and didn't want hoards of bennys moaning that they won't go in.

Kennaird that kit looks good but it sure does get expensive when you add the rest of the windows to the kit!
