Morning,

I've owned my mini for 10 years now. In various forms. Over that time I've often been tempted by other classics.

Past 4? Years has seen prices rocket making most well out of the reach of your overage Joe. But what about our turbo minis?

I can't find any forsale to gauge a price.

Anyone any ideas?

I'd love a bmw e30 3 series but 4k for a 1.8 auto? 20k for a 325 sport? Are they f*****g mental?!

Minis with a turbo motor chucked in are same sort of price of normal n/a..

Sorted minis with sorted turbo motors (done right) the last few i seen been 6k-9k

Prices are crazy but ive come across alot of sellers that also think prices are redic so dont ask as much as others

Also bare in mind that advertised prices are not always what they go for.. to get a realistic value i always look at completed listings on ebay... Like many im sure i constantly check the classic car sites for 'bargains' and see the same cars being re-advertised again and again with high prices.

Mk1's are a prime example.. theres loads of 850's that have been sat on ebay or car and classic for over 6 months for over 10k, but on auction a u'll see a really good one get to 7-8k. I actually won an almond green one in october, but when i got there there was signs of a bad crash repair in the boot and a dent in the roof so I walked away. The same car is at a dealer now for £10999 and has been since november

prices are all over the place right now however I think a great deal of it is to do with low interest rates. People with a bit of cash in the bank are perhaps treating themselves to a toy as cash is making nothing in savings. On the flip side, more demand is raising prices so investors are speculating too.

I think the bubble will burst at some point the same way it did previously

also got to bear in mind the cars we all like are the ones we grew up with that all became the budget bangers and now rising out of the doldrums. The secret would be to identify the up and coming cars of the 90's and 00's and stash them away for a rainy day.

Even complete listings prices arnt particularly reliable as theres so much shill bidding and non paying bidders out there a lot of sales don't really happen.

Im also not sure the whole car investment over a long period works either unless you happen to own a farm with a big empty barn doing nothing. If you look at how much it actually costs to store a car, even if the price rockets over a period of 10-20 years you would pay more for the spot your keeping it in. The only way you really win is by having a car you actually use that appreciates well or being one of these dealers that buys stuff and adds a few 10%s on the price.

I know my mate sold his RS 2000 to a dealer when he split up with his Mrs for about 7500, Dealer sold it for over 12k! Theres always somone out there that 'needs the money' and always somone that has money to burn You just have to hook the two up.

I'm on a another venture with BMWs at the moment and had been looking fir a e36 3.2 evo m3. The price of them has rocketed the last few years so I hate to imagine what a nice well sorted e30 would fetch

My thoughts exactly... fast forward a few decades.. what happens then? The kids of today what are they growing up with? Will they want them when they are older? Will they care about the cars we do? When were gone will anyone care for the cars we do?

Also agree with ya when it comes to 90's/00's cars.. id love to hold onto my clio cup but like slater says youll spend what you earn over the time..

Al valid points, it all comes down to its only worth what someone's willing to pay for it. All be it a cop out answer lol.

I don't want to only have ever owned 1 classic car but will I regret selling my mini?

00s cars aren't going to be so easily restored by the home builder so I don't see how they will last forever
