Is it okay to run without a blow of valve on reasonable boost like less than 10 psi ? Don't think the metro had one anyway.
Thanks

Would the standard setup be less prone to surge because the butterfly is closer to the turbo comparing to all the piping for an intercooled one?
Are people getting strong noise from their BOV on standard setup ?

At 10psi on a small turbo it's noticeable inside the car, but not outside

I really wouldnt, the gt17 althogh a great turbo, has a pretty thin shaft, and Ive head of them shearing on high boost stuff.

I've got a cheap ebay universal dv. When I was running 20psi it would dump and flutter at the same time lol. The dv obviously couldn't dump enough at high boost.
I was wondering if I should get anther dv or just do away with it.

is the DV before or after the intercooler?

personaly I dont like these DV's with a ring of smaller holes (6mm?) personally i run a recirc one, but without the recirc connected, i havent checked but i suspect one 1" hole flows better than a bunch of small ones.

It's fitted on the plenum. It looks like a forge type dv.

if its a piston one pull it apart and check it all moves freely, the o ring on the piston can swell so they stick, diaghram ones seem more reliable.

Ive found that if you havent got the vac pipe on the DV it'll actually open, at about 12-15psi on my one, it needs the boost there to keep it shut.
