hi guys first proper thread here. i have a mini pickup which i have been restoring for a few years have not properly touched it in a couple!

Ready to crack on again. have here is the thread i have on it over on TMF with progress so far.
http://www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic...nally-underway/

I have started the ball rolling by getting hold of an 84k k1100 rs head cams throttle body etc.
i'm going to go down the route of buying the sc bundle less the machine work and get the machine work done locally.

i'm just in the planning stage at the moment till the new year. as i am new to efi fuel injection etc its a whole new learning curve for me.
from the research i have done i realise that you need to have a high pressure supply and return into the tank. this seems to pose a problem as the pickup fuel tank only has an output on it. the next problem i can see is the fuel pump as it wont be able to be lower than the tank as the pickup tank sits lower than the subframe.
i see only one solution is to cut the top of the tank open for access (Its a new tank never had Petrol in it)
and mount an internal high pressure fuel pump inside. i have also come to the conclusion that a swirl pot is a good idea to have also but don't want one mounted in the bulkhead so would something like this work isinde also?

would appreciate your thoughts on the tank.

many thanks

Internal fuel pump and swirl pot is the neatest solution.

Van tanks are just an oblong shape ain't they? Would be reasonably 'cheap' to just get a nice alloy tank made up with it all inside (plus baffles and foam and what not..) Maybe that's a bit too far for you tho.

Thanks for the reply. Yeh having the alloy tank made up with foams etc is a bit far at this point. I'm going to have a measure of the distance from underneath the subframe to the load bed might be able to squeeze a small swirl pot in the depth of subframe and load deck as the heel board is taller so might be possible?.

I have a Van that I want to inject.
Have been thinking about fitting an old type (Golf) fuelpump.
This has a 'swirltank' integrated, like this:
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-Golf-Mk2-Gti-...20AAOSwCGVX9gVa

Disadvantage is you have to add a lowpressure pump to fill it and make a retunpoint in the tank.

Edit: Oh and make sure you have a pump that is able to supply enough fuel and pressure

Can you get one with a built in pre pump?

I was thinking about fitting and 'ordinairy' facet liftpump on the subframe, using the original tank supply.

By the way, get some pictures up of you pick-up; always had a soft spot for these. :)

Click the thread link at the top that's where I've got to so far. Haven't worked out it in 2 years.

I fitted an external swirl pot. Pumped fuel into that and then returned to the filler neck.

Ah right that looks alright thanks for that. So no mods were needed to the tank?

Did you buy that swirl pot from somewhere or had it fabricated?
