this has been covered back in 2009 so though i'd start a new thread to bring it up to date.

As the cars are all becoming more valuable, I've had the reality check that I really should be thinking about insuring them while they are in the workshop.

I've just done a search on line and have a few suspects to call, but ahead of this, does anyone have any recommendations? I'm wondering if I can get a group policy to cover the 3 cars not on the road or go for individual ones? tools, spares etc are also a thought. We share a workshop with someone else as well so not sure how that would be viewed from a risk perspective.

any suggestions and comments welcome

I know RH do multicar policies, a few of my mates use them.

I've used REIS and Competition Car Insurance before for storage and transit insurance, there are others. My camper and kit car are stored away from my house at a shared workshop, was no problem telling the broker (Adrian flux in this case)

they wouldn't do laid up on mine with it being in pieces, I've had to get a normal 1000 mile policy on it but at least i've got agreed value and stuff with that for about £150 a year.

Carnforth, Lancs

Also try Auden insurance - competition specialists so used to laid up cover, trailer cover etc etc

just spoken to RH; short story, £30 a year for each of the estates and £40 for the metro. Its all a bit of a no brainer I think at that level

no idea Joe but I've no NCB free to use anyway. In fact Flux mirrored the NCB off my daily driver for the mini when it first went back on the road

no idea; best give them a call and explain what you want; they may tailor something to suit?

None of my classic policies give or can use a NCB. I presume it's because they have limited mileage on them

Yeah probably best especially if they can do tools/parts cover as well although I did phone Flux last week to temporary insure mine over Christmas but the price was crazy just for a week. I had a bit of trouble with them in the past though when I swapped from NA to turbo. But after chatting to John I called HIC and got cover for the year for £130 more as a second car which will cover mine while it's laid up and I can just go for a wizz around whenever I feel like it! I've got no idea if you get NCB with them, would be nice to be earning no claims on both cars!
