Morning all
Well today is the big day: I'll be starting the beast for the first time!

I used the ignition table generator to make a spark advance table for my Microsquirt, the attached image is what is gave me. (attached)

Does it seem about right?

To me it looks a bit too advanced at high vacuum, but that may not be a problem...

(1310, 8.2:1 CR, big intercooler, Microsquirt with CTR, IAT, MAP, no TPS, running ignition only initially)

It looks very similar to my base table generated by TunerStudio for an MS2 with a similar load (MAP) range and I've had no problems with mine.

The minor differences are in the top left and bottom right corners but you will never be in those areas..... (top left = full boost at 500RPM, that would be some turbo or supercharger to achieve that, and bottom right equals cruise (near zero throttle) at 7,500RPM, probably only achievable in 1st gear...)

If you are concerned for first run, knock a few degrees of everywhere by putting a false figure into the trigger wheel setting (easier than re-writing the table) but make sure you put the false offset in the right way around.

You need to check the actual trigger wheel setting anyway with a timing light once you have it running, no matter how well you installed the wheel it will never be exactly 90 degrees.

That has to be something wrong with how you have setup the gauges etc in TunerStudio.

If it runs, it means the microsquirt is 100% definately getting the crank signal. The engine wouldn't run without the ECU being synched to the crank RPM signal.

What are the green/red boxes at the bottom of TS showing ?

I thought the EDIS module sends a spark based on the toothed wheel, the MS just modifies that with PIP & SAW..?

rod is assuming (like I did) that you are running coilds direct from the Microsquirt.

your right the MS "mods the advance using the pip and saw, vbelow is a good reference.

I assumw you are seeing other signals working on Tunerstudio, ie MAP,

one thing worth mentioning, there was a later Edis module that apparently doesnt work, think its a red one. not sure the reason why as Ive always run coils direct.

Yep, like Joe says, I was assuming you were running the coils direct.

As you are using EDIS the RPM signal will, unfortunately, have to come from it.

And as you say ignition only at the moment and you can't see RPM, the EDIS may just be running your engine at the "failsafe" 10 degrees BTDC.

In fact, if you can't see RPM in TunerStudio and it runs, it's highly likely that EDIS is just in fail safe.

EDIS is so last millenium, I've never used it, just stolen the coilpacks from the breakers and driven them direct.

If you search on the MS-E forums you will find many posts on how to determine if PIP/SAW is getting through.

Arg, figured out what was going on, ish...
I think i had a corrupted firmware on the MiS, as i flashed it and now its reading all the sensors/signals, and advances correctly.

ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!

Now to swap the carb for injection...

Thanks again all!

I meant to say to reflash the firmware, sorry t slipped my mind!

when I was trying to get my inected engine started on MS i chased issues for about 3 days until I reflashed.... then it started straight away... frustrating.
