Cams ! Whos the peope to speak to

Head porting can be sorted on here lol

Brett sims seems to have cams, valves and uprated springs in various combinations and builds some seriously quick hillclimb engines.

But a known spec to give around 160 would probably be.

K1200 head, ported with 3 angle seats with specialist components sprint cams. Then all the usual trimmings for a decent 1380 bottom end topped of with decent fuel injection and ram pipes.

Steel crank, well lots of people seem to be running standard ones to silly rpm, so as long as they are carefully selected to avoid any manufacturing defects, nicely worked and crack tested perodically I wouldn't have a problem using one to 8300 ish.

here you have 146hp whit ported head and RS cams.

I would like to see something like 120 on mine.

The sprint cams are good!

Just be aware that the re-profiled cams will need the valve stems shaving and lash caps fitting.

I wouldn't scrimp on the bottom end. The best crank you can afford with light weight 6" rods with cooper S size big end, 18mm pins and low compression height pistons will go a long way towards that 160hp

So when some joey comes on here about how his 16v turbo vauxhall is great compared to ours, he can be given the 'bird'...

Brett sims does his own cams btw, and bigger valves should you wish along with porting. Really nice guy to talk to, really knows what hes doing and had lots of success doing heads for racers. I found all this out when researching where to send my head, havnt had it back yet tho as he had a 2 month wait before he was going to be able to get started. 160 should be easily achieved on a 1380, he's knocking on the door of 200 he said on a 1430

I'll throw it out there, why cooper s size big end? I've always taken the view maximum journal overlap would be best for strength i.e 1.75". Could always go undersize on the journals to reduce friction.

Reduce both rotating and reciprocating mass. The longer rod reduces rod angle, friction and piston velocity. The shorter piston with narrower pins also reduces reciprocating mass and friction.

That and the fact most 6" rods readily available are Cooper s size ends, as are most forged cranks.

I had Oz from OAP sort out four of these little beasties for me, they're available too

632 grams each, Turned down/lightened big ends. Radiused/stress relived. Modified for ARP bolts. Oil spray for underside of piston crown. Balanced end to end after each stage.

I'll get back to you on the other stuff next week if interested?

Those rods certainly don't look stress relieved to me, far too many sharp corners

No problem mate, I'll let you know what I have anyway just in case there's anything that you want.

The rest of the stuff will be going in the for sale section and then the dreaded flea bay
