Well, after a few years away and the old daily driver tucked away gathering dust i've regained some motivation to get this on the road.

Here it is pretty much how we got it with the addition of bucket seats.

It's a 1990 Racing Flame, 998cc originally and is relatively low miles.
It was used & abused as a daily driver for a year and underwent a few upgrades, 12G295 head, carb, LCB, zaust, etc, the normal. The original plan was to finish testing the MS2 "Siamese" code on Dads car, put a 1293 turbo in this and fuel inject it the same. Things changed, Endaf's old Miglia popped up for sale and this needed a considerable amount of work doing, we also moved to the MS3X which simplified the fuel injection due to allowing fully sequential injection out of the box. The engine was built and installed into the miglia, the car had a few outings to the pod & and aborted dyno session due to fueling issues with a clogged fuel pump.

Due to the fact the miglia could never be road legal it made things difficult and with a car that could only be used a few times a year the decision was made to sell the car, keeping the engine destined again for my car.

After the front end resto, it failed the MOT with lots of typical mini rust issues, back on to the ramp for a new rear subby, tubbed arches, sills, etc. Motivation was lost, started cycling, started a business & a family. Whilst i'd been busy odd jobs were carried out to start preparing the car to take the engine.

Bulkhead box to accept the plenum with decent length runners, size does matter!

MS3X built up with 2 additional analog inputs & realtime clock module.

Coil brackets ready for machining, using the LS2 Truck coils.

CNC'd handle, mainly to test various operations and fixturing.

New switch panel for savage switches, needing a cleanup.

The start of the wiring documentation, I'm doing an entire loom as moving all the fuses, relays, etc to behind the dash.

Minisport dash, started fitting the various gauges. As its quite shiny i think i'll either be painting or wrapping it in something to reduce the glare.

Here are some pictures of the engine, we're going to route the pipes differently to help us try and fit it all in a standard steel front*oh well*

Some info on the engine build here, unfortunately a lot of the pictures don't work at the moment but i'm working on re-uploading them.

Very nice!

You've crammed a lot in there!

I take it it's getting a "non optional" flip front *wink*

In the spirit of Carl's guessing games, anyone care to guess what these are, and what for? These are 2 of 4.

They're rotary switchable, easy

Rotary switches, they are being used as voltage dividers (effectively a stepped pot)

The boost one on the left has 11 positions, (spinal tap reference for those in the know), this is a simple voltage divider into a ADC input to blend between 2 boost tables (wastegate & full)

The launch control set point (on the right) is a 2P6T, effectively two 6 position switches in one. One half is a voltage divider as above, this sets the launch RPM between pre defined levels. The other half acts as a simple switch, all of the positions are connected to ground except the first, this enables launch control on positions 2-6.

Traction control switch is wired the same as the launch control one, works in exactly the same manner.

The 4th and final switch is a 3 position voltage divider (like the boost switch), positions being road, track, strip. This alters fueling and ignition tables for power or economy, strip position being tuned to take advantage of water/meth injection.

Got a few bits done to the car on friday. Brakes are now plumbed in, there is some heat shield on the pipes as the down pipe from the side mount turbo will be in the vicinity.

I also made a start on the new looms, I'm keeping the original rear loom in situ for the time being for all the standard stuff and running an additional bunch to the rear for fuel, washer & water pumps, vss, etc.

It's going to be one clever car when it's done

PS, I like the idea of turning the boost up to 11

Finished up the front chassis loom whilst the littleun had her morning nap, here it is compared to the original one, a unintentional weight saving!

I want to turn my boost up to 11. That's a very nice touch.

BHP sells engines, but Torque wins races!
