Well, Nathan's Mk1 has arrived and it's fair to say there is quite a bit of work ahead of us.

Going to re fit the subbies and brace the shell for sure ! I will ultimately be soda blasting the shell and having it coated professionally before paint goes back on

great stuff, being a 66 you shouldnt run into too much trouble getting pannels like on earlier shells, ( like the flat sills on the 59/60's)

Well We had an afternoon in the garage yesterday, went to fit the front subframe and immediately found it didn't fit. It appears who ever fitted the front N/S wing and front panel had done so without the subby in place...

Purchased some tungstens for it yesterday only to be told from a local welder that I should bin them as they are the toxic ones 😣 (I bought thoriated tungstens) which I managed to blow to bits very quickly indeed in any event I use them for mild steel and stainless with no concerns and they were specified for stainless coded welds where I used to work. I presume he's referring to the fact that the 2% throrium they are doped with is mildly radioactive. It's harmless while welding but just wear a simple dust mask when grinding them, it's only if you breathe in the dust from grinding that there is a tiny, tiny risk as the thorium is an alpha emmiter so you don't really want it in your lungs. I presume he said ceriated instead (for mild steel)? Personally I don't like them and just use common sense with the thoriated ones. Schrödinger's cat - so which one am I ??? |

Well, still assessing the job at hand, and noticed that the nearside has been repaired to the same low standard... Can anyone tell me if this is correct mk1 outer sill ? It has 6 raised sections.

Think that's the later outer sill, mk1 should have 4 raised sections |

I've gone for the replace panel rather than patch now after I started stripping the paint back looks like a patch work quilt. Passenger side had 4 sets of sills on oringal + 3 over sills. So gotta do full floor door steps and that to fix it. I feel your pain haha but still tidy 66 |
