Just wondered what actually raises the piston/diaphragm. Is it the vacuum drawing it up or the boost pressure pushing it up?
Cheers

Depending upon the type, both act together.

In most piston / diaphragm types its a bit of both
In others ( hks ssqv) springs to mind they work much like a QEV or quick exhaust valve
Where its not necessarily a vacuum that triggers it just a difference in pressure one side to the other

Yes i moved to the darkside *happy*

yep, on most valves if the little pipe comes off it wont have boost pressure helping it stay closed and it will start dumping, mine does this around 15psi.

Thanks for the responses. Is there anything available that just works off the boost pressure without the need of the vacuum pipe? I would like to limit boost to 10psi, I already have a bypass valve for when the throttle is closed. Or could a normal bov limit the boost with the throttle fully open? Cheers
