Hy. My turbo engine comes to an end but the car isn't finished yet and might not be for a while. ( lets say a year or so)

What is the best way to store the engine?
Put oil in and spin from time to time? Or???

you can do anything if you set your mind to it...
i rather blow it up winning than keep it together losing.

finish date set for project 1... march 2018

My engine is in a similar situation, it's at 80% completion whereas the car will be another year.

As I knew this would be the case I did some pre-emptive maintenance, and it depends how far you want to go. At the moment I just cover everything liberally in oil every couple of months. The head is sitting on a cheapo headgasket and no pushrods are fitted so I can just pull the head off and re-oil everthing occasionally.

I have also had some experience with 'inhibitor fluid', this stuff is used to preserve aircraft engines while the airframes are being completed, just chuck half a litre in the sump and a capful in each pot, and some in the main gallery, turn the engine over a few revolutions and it will be fine for a year, that stuff is great. I've used the AeroShell product before.

As long as it's covered ina layer of oil and kept in a nice dry area it should be fine.

I'd keep it in the house rather than the garage or shed.

I'm not sure it's that much to worry about really. As long as you oiled up everything it should be fine.

I left my old engine sitting for 3 1/2 years in the garage. I just sprayed a bit of gt85 all over it and a little down each port of the head and bunged it up with some oil soaked blue roll and wrapped it in a bit of cling film.

Turned it over every few months by hand. When I took the head off before putting it back in the car it was perfect. Garage was far from dry either.

Unless it's stored in a horrible dirty damp environment....never worry about it

Hi
To protect the inside of the engine :
I use (for my moto-bikes) the liquid they use to store see outboard motors.
You run the engine at 3000 t/min and spray the liquid (becomes a kind of foam) into the carburator ,the engine will automaticcaly stop after a few seconds .
If you have more inlets you have to interrupt the ignition and use the starter .......
You can repeat this if the engine will be stored for a longtime .

The first start will take some time and smoke *smiley*

we shall never surrender
