Morning all
Quick question, is it possible to determine the year of manufacture by VIN? Specifically the sequential serial part?
I'm just about to buy a Jap import SPi cooper, and need to figure out what year it was made!

I know the Rover minis started at 010001 (1990?) - this is 101884.
Internal bonnet release was introduced in 1992, which it has.

Get in contact with British Motor Heritage. They should be able to tell you when it was manufactured from the Vin serial.

I don't think you can determine the age to any real degree just from the VIN
