First one of the season for me - and I hope to do a lot more.

MX5 is so much fun ! With the tutoring and excellent company of two racing friends I did around 30 laps of Goodwood in very mixed conditions.

Initially damp but drying and I was, as usual, a bit hesitant and ragged but it dried out quite nicely and I was only overtaken by a V6 engined MG ZS (?). To be fair, we only ever had 10 cars on track for each session (yes it was sessioned rather than open pit lane, organised by the MG car club )

Did achieve a PB by taking Fordwater flat out with over 100 mph on the speedo.

Got a formal reprimand for overtaking on the Lavant kink (silly boy)

Right at the end of the day when it was pretty wet and I was gaining speed and confidence the inevitable happened and I spun off at St Mary,s. No excuses, just wrong line ,wrong speed and a hamfisted attempt to correct just as the car was on the limit. Missed the barriers though, so no real drama.

Roll on Snetterton on March 8th.

I like goodwood, foot to the board fun.

Unfortunately Gary the blobule will be undergoing some rectification of bodywork and some alterations to the suspension so unlikely to be on track.

In any case it is so much harder work than my new toy.
