Pretty cheap for one of those! I paid close to 2700 for my 40" stack, without the plaques

I think it's about right for what it is, gives you some wiggle room for haggling aswell. I would speak to your local snap on dealer about it though, they often buy boxes to sell on again. Worth a shot if it doesn't sell on eBay

Only my opinion, but I can,t see the logic in spending that sort of money on toolboxes.
I bought a secondhand Snapon box about 25 years ago, added a step up chest a while later and the whole lot is mounted on a steel cabinet on which used to sit an office coffee machine. Painted red to match the Snapon stuff and on castors and they do the same job as any other, but without the bling value.
Total cost about £120

I sort of agree tadge, but I bought my box with the view of long term investment. I'm never going to sell mine unless I run out of room and opt for a bigger toolbox, but even then I would probably just buy another to put next to it. Main reasoning I bought mine was that my cheaper toolbox had me tearing my hair out within 6 months of use as the drawers couldn't take the weight or constant use, I've had my snap on box for 4 years and it's never given me any issues. Yes there expensive, but when it's used every day I'd happily pay more for quality.
Purely my view though, and I don't knock anybody for using cheaper boxes either

There's one simple reason to buy a branded toolbox, and that is they hold their money. My box was £900 second hand maybe 5 years ago. It would likely sell for give or take the same now. Each to their own but I'd rather spend £900 on something that would sell on again for £900 than spend £300 on something that then becomes worth a balloon on a stick 12 months later.
Just my opinion of course.

Honestly, before I went into the trade I always thought they were ridiculously priced so I totally understand why people think the are too expensive and not worth it. But I wouldn't hesitate to spend the money on my toolbox again

Each to their own, I say.

Clearly I am out of touch with prices, but my first secondhand Snapon box, bought from the local Snapon van, was £40.

Totally agree that buying cheap tat is the way to disappointment but my boxes are well used but still fully functional.

I see boxes and cabinets in my local garage that seem to be statements rather than tools of trade.

I,m just a boring old fart though !!

Charlie, I hope you sell your boxes soon - it will cut down on the dusting in your living room!
