Morning all!
Instead of doing a photo build log, I have decided to do a Youtube video web series.
As I cant find one, I thought it may be of interest.

I've basically finished the boring bits (tear-down, cleaning etc) and am going to do
a number of episodes (10-15) charting the process & progress, split into 10-20 min chunks, and going over the technical stuff, covering each topic as i get to it, such as engine build, timing, microsquirt setup, brakes etc etc.

I know a lot of you will have gone through this in the past, so may not be of much use to you, but it would be great if you just want something to watch now and then (once or twice a week) that's turbo-based *smiley*

The first video is just an intro, goes over what I will be covering and some little sneak-peeks of the parts I'll be using...

It would be REALLY good if you could subscribe *smiley*

Any questions or suggestions just throw them at me! (on here, not youtube comments)
*happy*

Yeah I cant STAND crapy quality videos with bad audio, so expect reasonably good production *smiley*

I know the first vid is a bit dry but its only an intro.

Thanks for the sub Alex *smiley*

Hehe!!!! Yep *smiley*

Question for you John, did you actually measure the chamber volume? As I had a look through that build thread and at one point it suggested the head had been skimmed by 30 thou to bring it down to 27cc. but i might have got the wrong end of the stick.

Got that set of conrods from bingley, the only set on sale!!! (£25)

Looking forward to this.

What are you using for audio? Much audio post production? Sounded very clear even on my phone which brings out the worst of YouTube vids *Clapping*

PhilR - Its a ZOOM H5, no audio post at all *smiley*
video was a Sony Alpha A5000, but will be using a selection of GoPro 3, Nikon and BlackMagic cameras for the main content.

I asked Matt the same question and in the end he never had it skimmed.

I actually measured it. Bang on 29.5cc. It would be a shame to skim it. Lots if works goes into finding them extra cc's.

What CR you planning on running?

Thanks for nipping into the conversation *smiley*
Great ok - I'm expecting somewhere around 8.2-8.4 depending on the deck height and gasket when I get it together.

around the phase2 phase3 comment on your vid. i swear i got my cam off benross and that was called a phase 3 from memory. i do have a terrible memory, but i recall taking the piss out of it.

would be interesting to check what the difference are.

OK, to clarify that, the old "phase 3" (semi-unofficial name) received a lot of bad reviews so Ian decided to not really call it that - the new Phase 3 is very similar to the Phase 2, but optimised.
I was talking to him on Monday about some parts and he mentioned it, calling it the new, proper Phase 3.
From what he said, it is currently being cut, and will be proofed in a Japanese race series before being set loose in the UK.
(don't quote me on that but that's the impression he gave me)

no idea mate. i assumed this was benross's cam spec seeing as i got it from him. nothing to do with avonbar. however i could be clueless on this matter. i just guessed benross used the name phase 3 as phase 2 was taken, orrrrr could be a phase 3 as u say below :/ lol

AMAZING response so far! Thank you!!

I've been asked to make a video about my projector-type headlights, so have added it to my channel at:

Hope to get the engine build shoot done this week too (Just waiting on a couple of bits)

Episode 2 now up - its not the most thrilling of videos if I'm honest, but there are already a lot of "fine detail" engine building videos out there.

Now completing EP3 and 4, Gearbox & Diff
