Never had it on the diesels but im pretty comfortably into double figures on skipped chains on the 4 cylinder petrols.every sigle time i have had one in with a cam sensir fault code its the chain. That said i have never yet had one do valve damage as they only jump a tooth or two. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Certain engine codes of the 2.0 diesel are known for this problem. The timing crank sprocket is machined as part of the crank, it wears out then skips the chain. I'm sure a Google will yield more info.

Mm thats pretty grim, on the petrols the sprockets are all replaceable and come in a kit with the chain and guides n that. turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

A lad at work has just had his chain tensioner replaced in his 320d as recall from bmw...

The tensioner is a common fail on the 2.0l d. I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.
