I've got the open end going to my bleed valve. if you had it open to atmosphere you will have effectively been getting as much boost as the turbo could muster so a strong likely cause of your failure |

what kind of actuator, if it was the type with two pipes one either side of the piaphragm then the one closest to the wastegate rod should be left vented. (i.e. R5GTT type)
turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

As he should. (if im reading that correctly and it has the type of actuator i expect it has lol turbo 16v k-series 11.9@118.9 :)

Simple test as follows. Connect a tyre foot pump to the actuator stub pipe that was piped to the turbo. Leave the spare stub open. Pump the foot pump. If the actuator rod moves, your RR guy was wrong to block the pipe. If it doesn't move and the air comes out of the spare stub, he was right to block the pipe.

I read this as two pipes from the brass Union on the turbo not the actuator.
In the 13's at last!.. Just |

Ok so on a normal setup... It should be left vented to atmosphere? |

NO, as stated earlier, if left open it will allow the turbo to run amok. |

It was originally connected to the boost solenoid, so it should be blocked or connected to a bleed valve/boost controller. |

Ok so on a normal setup... It should be left vented to atmosphere? No! The fitting from the turbo supplies the actuator with boost pressure, opening the waste gate. If there is a leak (leaving the opposite side of the fitting is a fucking huge leak) the pressure is lost and the waste gate doesn't open. This is how a bleed valve works. In the 13's at last!..
