The start of my build thread!!
I removed my engine and subframe last week, ready for the start of my turbo build. I was running a "stage 1" set up with a megajolt ford edis.
The block is away to the machinest to be rebored +40 with 6cc p20773 Pistons.
Meanwhile... I have started to tidy up my slightly rusty sub frame!! I stripped the subframe back to bare metal before spraying it with a zinc primer to prevent any little bits of rust popping up again.. So far I have only got the primer on. (See pics)
I also fitted my x-pin diff.
Once the block is back I will be ready to start building,

Spec list.. (Parts I have)

12g295 head.
Metro cam.
3 piece turbo clutch kit.
Duplex timing gear.
Standard helical gear box.
X-pin diff.
Hiff 44. (needs turbo mods)
Metro turbo plenum.
74 degrees thermostat
2 core radiator.
Standard water pump.
Megajolt ecu
Ford edis ignition.

Parts I need.

Gt1544 turbo. (+all the turbo gubbins)
High pressure fuel pump (undecided)
Fuel reg.
weld up exhaust manifold.

God knows what else... Ha

So it begins!

Looks like a good spec :) Hopefully you'll get it together faster than the 3 years it's taken me so far!

Swansea boyo!

An AFR gauge is something you should definitely add to your list :)

They don't die, they just get faster!

Well it's taken 3 years to get this far... Haha. Everything is in place to be starting the build once my machinest gets the Pistons in though.
I've looked in to afr gauges, I'll probably fit one once the engine is in and the fine tuning starts.
I need to master the art of posting pictures... I'm not having much luck!

AFR gauge is a must and you need to think about welding a boss in when you make the manifold and down pipe.

What or you making the manifold from?

The standard 998 oil pump is upto the job, but if you have the engine in bits, better to fit a turbo pump. You need to modify the pump and block to make them fit. Easy enough though.

I wouldn't bother with the duplex timing gear either.

Fastest 998 mini in the world? 13.05 1/4 mile 106mph

Iv been neglecting this for a while so will try to get some updates on.
I ended up going for the IHI RHF4 turbo.
I welded up a manifold for it over the weekend from 1-1/2" mild steel and made some flanges from mild steel flat bar.

I'll take some pics tonight of the engine.

I need to plum up the turbo to oil feeds buy a 2 core rad and weld in me turbo box then she's ready to be fitted!

P.s I'm a complete amatuer welder before you all start ripping in to my manifold... Ha
