As mentioned earlier, there was a Twin point turbo on this year's annual Mini Meet in Norway. I got a couple of pictures of it, but unfortunately I don't know a lot about the setup.

The owner had nil knowledge of the 5-port problems, (neither do I to be honest) so I didn't go there.

What I do know, is that he uses LARGE injectors from a Cossie of some kind.

Oh, and it's a 1380 btw, and he is using the turbo of a VAG 1,8 turbo, which he claimed was too small. Homemade manifiold.

He said that he was going to get 200hp out of it. I nodded politely :)

Very neat set up I must say - I'd love to know how it works nd what ECU he's using?!

Just to add something here, as I have spoken a bit more with the owner of this setup.
He has some knowledge about the 5 port troubles, and have a sequential injection setup from MOTEC to try to even out the fuel distribution into the cylinders. he has converted everything to MOTEC I think, and with std box and such, the engine has costed something in the area of 6000 pounds. mostly on electronics. He has not too much knowledge about the typical mini stuff, so it will be fun to see what he says when he experiences troubles with the engine itself, but he has much knowledge about ECUs and electronic engine control, he is working with that for a living. He is using an intercooler from an audi S3.

I've never even looked into Motec as they're just soooooooo expensive - like many times more so than emerald / dta / etc... I heard there is a lot of scope in the ECU's, but I suspect this is reffering to the much more expensive end of the range...

I also know one more here in Norway using a motec EFI system and a VAG 1.8t turbo, he "only" got 154 hp at the wheels with that system with 820 cc injectors. He is running Norway`s best RR and claimed that that turbo was too small and caused too much backpressure, and thus couldnt give enough boost to give really good power. his rollers are accurate and trrustworthy

These are around 1300 quid a shot. They are the dogs though - a mate runs one (not on his mini!)

MM63: I guess you mean 820CC injectors, not actuators :)

154 at the wheels, are you sure? Crankshaft maybe? At Per Gulbrandsen??

turbodave,

I remember you posting some info on the rover ecu and their way of getting round (or not getting round) port robbing on the tpi cooper on the MM forum, I had a search but can't find it, any chance you could dig it out please?
