Hi

I've got a trackday next weekend.

Just wondering if anyone could recommend a good dash camera that records sound aswell?

Thanks
Josh

I used one of those Sj4000 cams that look like a go pro, its a great bit of kit and very good value.

I run a supercharger and I don't care the TB is on the wrong side.

Thanks mate.

There 40 quid on ebay. That's very reasonable I reckon.

Most record sound, but do you mean via an external mic option ?

Not all do that, and a lot of ones when you install them in the plastic case holder, sound quality will diminish.

I've drilled my plastic case as I'll never use it underwater. I'd rather have clearer audio plus a bit of protection if it rattles around in the car.

I got the sj4000 cam in the end.

Just waiting on the micro card for it.

I'll have a play with it tonight. Git a track day at bedford autodrome tomorrow so I'll get some in car footage :)

Battery is not great. I need to get another one for the summer.
I ran out at the trackday and could recored my last and best laps of the day. Bit gutted as I had some fun with a alfa and a mx 5.

I use an sj4000 as a dash cam and for fun videos, also use them at work for live feeds, brilliant camera not looked back since, going to get a few more for in the rover. Plus can get wifi versions to connect to your phone as well.

You can also get different cases for sound, water proof, charging and waterproof/charging if you get a accessories pack it comes with the sound back as well as the waterproof and many mounts

Sorry to thread hack but just want to ask a stupid question... 'wanna be' go-pros and £9 dash 'accident' cams... whats the real difference when just stuck on the windscreen recording driving or track sessions?

video quality and reliability is the main thing with the cheap alternatives and/or knockoffs.
I've tried a couple of wannabe go-pro's (circa 20-30 quid) and had bad experience with both.
One had '1080p' video but it was like a pixellated mush.
The other had awful stutter when recording and also suffered from vibration issues which would cause intermittent video black outs.
No problem going with the cheaper versions but check the reviews on the specifics prior

used the sj4000 for the fixed cam bits of this video....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kIfK9xdVfw

Seem to get about 2 hrs from a battery if you use it in non=-screen mode also took it rallying in dumfries this weekend and so far the footage looks very good indeed.
