the pipe has split on my car, does anyone know if it is possible to use braided hose instead?

Yes sure most do, -4 works fine

I have started posting on Instagram also my name on there is turbomk1golf

Nothing is impossible it just costs more and takes longer.

OEM metal hose is a nightmare

9.85 @ 145mph
202mph standing mile
speed didn't kill me, but taxation probably will

cheers for that, any experience with any good companies for a turbo re-build whilst it's off

Or failing that... I just used 'Turbo Technics'... only got it back yesterday and it looks awesome. There's a few pics of before and after on by build thread...

Hi Brett are you interested in doing it, I'm not mechanically minded and too busy running my business, I could get it sent to you?

Yeah I payed not far off that but everything else on the car has been reconditioned new or is new so didn't wanna bolt on a crappy looking battered turbo. Eventually I'd like to go to some shows so for me it's justified.

With my gt17 I bought a rebuild kit of eBay and my mate rebuilt it at his work. Wasn't balanced or anything but the turbo only cost me £60 I think and the rebuild kit was maybe £30. So it's worth a punt even if it fails on me.

Sounds like too much hassle and £££.
I managed to pick up a brand new Garrett for £330+postage to my door.
Worth looking round for a new one perhaps???

cheers all, pipe is back on car and going great, got the old pipe welded and also got a braided one made, braided looked the best so that went on. Turbo isn't completely shagged, some smoke coming out the back when it's idling so will see if I can pick up a cheap one and have a go at reconditioning it myself
