I have had an issue with burning oil for a few years, we now have a rebuilt head and engine, ( huuuuge thanks to benross for helping me in time of need!)

I rebuilt the turbo, I have not done it before but it looked like it all went together ok. It still smoked
So impulsively a year or so ago I bought one from the bay that was believed to be good and we still have blue smoke on over run.

So this year, if it makes it on the road at all, I want to eliminate the turbo but as is often the case I don't have many more bags of money to throw at it.
If there's no luck finding a turbo then I need an LCB please. At least I will know if the turbo is the culprit then I won't feel so upset in parting with a few more hundered quid and still having a blue cloud consume everyone at traffic lights. 😔

WHY?

Is it just at idle?
Is your oil drain up to scratch?
What engine breathers do you have?
Have you done compression tests with and without oil in the cylinders?

Tom I would happily swap your calipers for a working t3 :)

Or maybe for free *wink*

Phil, it is over run and idle,
Breather wise it was just the little k and n type ones.. Just on flywheel housing and timing chain cover,
Last year I tried a catch tank on the flywheel housing (to stop the engine bay getting coverd as it allways does) with the timing chain breather going out under the passenger wing, it really spat a lot of oil out from the timing chain side.
So the plan is to use the catch tank but have a pipe pulling air from the catch tank into the turbo (air filter side),

Any advice on all of this is appreciated.

Thanks. Dan

Yes Dave from what I understand it creates a vacuum in the catch tank, pulling the crank case air out and leaving the oil in the catch tank, hopefully

I think the majority of oil will be caught in the catch tank, there is wire wool inside supposedly to condense the oil back into liquid, is my understanding.
