Hi, there is an old post going back to 2011 by topcat who was making these kits similar to this one on ebay. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380733063264?_tr...K%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
but just wanted to see if anyone on here could recommend anything as his website is no longer up.

Thanks

Topcat has square captive nuts rather than the standard, within the post on TM, Paul Whittington makes reference to the potential of the captive nut coming through the slot. http://www.turbominis.co.uk/forums/index.php?p=vt&tid=434131

later in the thread he refers he beefed it up to bigger captive nut and thicker 3 mm steel for the brackets

That sir, is not rust, it is the progressive mass reduction system

I managed to get a message to Topcat over on TMF a couple of weeks ago, I'm also after a set his seat mount kits, as is another guy on here.

He said he's got some bits left to make them still but they need folding up and welding. He's been real busy lately and hasn't had a chance to make any. He was going to let me know by the end of last week if he'd managed to sort me a set out but I've heard nothing so I guess I'm going to have to go elsewhere now too.

I looked at these yesterday at race retro and they're just an 8mm nut sat in a channel. I had a poke at them and there's literally 2mm of nut either side of the slot holding it in.

I'll probably end up getting these ones if there's no word from Topcat by tonight as I need to be fitting them next weekend ideally.

He did say he was thinking of posting up on here, from the way I understood it he wanted to offload his bits for someone else to finish off and sell

Yeah I've been on the hunt for some too, if we don't hear from topcat then maybe we could get some made, there's seems to be plenty of us wanting some.

Could just make a kit, get the metal laser cut, source the tube, weld it all together ourselves. I do prefer the square nuts rather than the normal ones!

I got bored of waiting, got myself some CDS on the way and started having a look at making some.

I'd still be interested in 8 of the brackets and spreader plates though if any of us hear from him.

I have spoke to Tom today, like nick says he has all the bits but is struggling with time to put them together. However, he said he will have a look and may but a few kits together but cannot guarantee. If you want a set can you let me no. Thanks

I'll definitely take 8 brackets and spreader plates. I already have the CDS tube.

I'll let you know if I run out of time waiting for them b fore he confirms. My car is in for a cage on 21st March so I need these done by then that's all.

I have also have contact with this company today who have confirmed that their -floating nut is a specially machined round bush.
There is approx 4mm of metal covering the circle/nut each side.
The difference being the PP compared to some others.

Hi guys, sorry not logged on here for a while.

As Nick/Phil said I am struggling with time to get workshop stuff done, due to the rest of my business being so time consuming (along with house building, getting married etc last year-this year).

I have got about 100 individual brackets laser cut, which I will try and fold in the morning (quiet tomorrow), and if I can get a batch of nuts drilled as well then I'll be able to finish a few sets.

In my cupboard of started mini bits, I have a load of milled aluminium water pump brackets for lightweight engine steadies, EDIS coilpack holders, and obviously the seat mount parts. If anyone is interested in buying everything from me, there is a lot of hard work done and a few really good products that can be made/finished and sold, I'd love to do it but time is the enemy...

as an alternative, what do people think to these... better or worse than a floating nut?

When I built up my race car I come this with stock 25x25 box section and laid straight on floor welded with strengthening plate on inner Coll and shaped around the tunnel and welded. Then bolted straight through floor, box section and into seat but could be done onto brackets like seats shown above.

I did the same. Never liked these brackets. Seats end up too high for me
